Have you tried picking it up with the Force? Master Jinn's been having me do that since I, uh, accidentally got some on him. It's kind of a pain, not as easy as moving clouds of it, but it's still easier than trying to pick it all out with what you can do by hand.
I haven't ever tried moving anything with the Force.
[because her limited training with Obi-Wan had been mostly meditation (which Leia wasn't that great at, because emptying your mind is hard). The Force isn't something that really comes second-nature to her, with the exception of checking on the status of others. She has to really think about it to use it, and after going so long without knowing how to use the Force, focusing and moving something telepathically is often more of a pain than just doing it by hand.]
[Mild surprise colors their connection. Sure, he knows Leia's pretty new to all this, but for some reason, he would have thought she'd at least learned that much.
It's certainly one of the first things he'd wanted to learn, as soon as he'd found out he was Force-sensitive.]
Want me to come over and show you how? As my apology for getting glitter on you?
[It's useful, sure, but moving things wouldn't have helped in the situation that sparked her interest in learning to use the Force. And plus she has Han to reach for things off the higher shelves now, that's his job.]
[Leia, you need to broaden your mind. Telekinesis means a lot more opportunities than just the top shelf stuff!]
You should make it a priority. It's really useful!
[Then he offers her a mental shrug.]
"Difficult" kind of depends on the person. Some people are better at some things and worse at others. You won't know until you try, and even then... Well, it took me a while to get the hang of it myself.
[Ezra laughs, genuine amusement bubbling up, bright and warm.]
I wouldn't just toss you off a fire escape right to start! We'd start small, with crates or rocks. Back home, I turned part of the communications tower I lived in into kind of a practice course like that. Crates and poles and all sorts of things to practice jumping and climbing on. I know how to improvise something that's safe.
[As always, when there's mention of Force training, Leia's thoughts drift to Luke, and if he knows how to do the thing, and if so, how he learned it. Because Luke is really the one with more invested in the Force, not her.]
[don't worry, she doesn't sound fully convinced by Ezra's claims. Because she's pretty sure the only guy that would be honest about his abilities is Luke.]
[Hmm. Be a smartaleck, facetious teen? Or just give her an honest response?
Well, he is trying to talk her into letting him give her lessons on jumping, so maybe he'll go for slightly more mature.]
Discipline and focus, if you want a broad response. He lectures me about that all the time. If you want something specific, though, then I'd have to say lightsaber training, or just self-defense in general. I've even seen him take out stormtroopers with just his hands and feet, not even using the Force.
[It's not hard to imagine Kanan lecturing Ezra about discipline and focus. He probably could've used a lecture on that before starting this whole glitter war. But, she's amused anyway, the warm, fond feeling of that transmitting through the connection easily.]
All the time? I can't imagine you ever needing a lecture on discipline or focus.
[Leia probably doesn't know this, but Ezra's not that bad at mimicking other people's voices. He draws himself up and deepens his voice, adding sternness to it for good measure.]
You lack discipline and focus, Ezra. If you'd been doing what you were supposed to be doing, this wouldn't have happened at all. Now start over, and remember to focus.
[He drops the act, reverting to a normal, if slightly grouchy voice.]
Like it's easy to focus with Chopper throwing food cans at my head.
[it's been a long time since she's heard Kanan speak, but from what she remembers, Ezra's mimicking of his voice isn't all that bad. Aside from, she presumes, the extra sternness added for emphasis.]
So droids throwing cans of food at you is another proven Jedi training method?

Is it difficult to learn?

Yeah. I think that part's something I've been doing all my life. I've been doing stuff like that since before I even met Kanan.
I could teach you about doing that kind of stuff, too, if you want.

Date: 2017-02-19 08:44 pm (UTC)My interest in the Force only lies in how I can use it to protect the people I care for. I'm not sure if jumping falls under that definition.
